Computers, the Internet, and the web are amazing things. And terribly complex. It's becoming more difficult for individuals to understand how they work. I believe that reading and writing - basic literacy - brought our ancestors out of poverty, struggle, and injustice.

Literacy can no longer mean only being able to read and write human language. Our world is irrevocably connected by increasingly complicated machines. The systems that connect us - and themselves - are imagined, built, controlled, maintained, upgraded, repaired, and made better by those who understand how to read, write, and speak their languages.

I want to see everyone know how to do this. A free society is only possible when no one person or group holds all the keys to locked doors. I hope you agree. But it's okay if you don't. I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts, either way.

I don't have a lot of money, but I'm rich in other resources: time, knowledge, experience, and desire. What I have in abundance, I wish to share with you.

Email me if you want to help. It would make my day.
